1) Passport validity & blank pages

Many destinations require a minimum passport validity beyond your arrival or departure date. “6 months” is common, but not universal. Also check whether you need blank pages for entry/exit stamps.

2) Return/onward ticket & entry conditions

Even when you’re visa‑free, border control may ask for proof of onward travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds. Some destinations are strict, and airlines can deny boarding if they think you won’t be admitted.

3) Transit/layover visas

Connecting flights can add extra rules: some countries require an airport transit visa depending on the passport and whether you leave the international zone. Always check the transit segment, not just the final destination.

4) Online authorizations (ETA / eTA / ESTA)

An ETA is not a “visa”, but it is still mandatory in many cases. Apply early, double‑check spelling, and keep a copy of the approval. Beware of third‑party sites that add fees without adding value.

5) eVisa vs visa on arrival

“Visa on arrival” often means you can pay and receive a visa at the border, but it may have conditions (specific airports, photo requirements, cash, exact fee). An eVisa can reduce uncertainty, but the system can be down. Plan for a fallback.

6) Travel insurance & health requirements

Some destinations request proof of insurance, vaccination certificates, or additional forms. Rules can change quickly during outbreaks or political events.

7) Common mistakes

Assuming visa‑free means “no documents needed”.
Ignoring passport validity rules.
Missing transit requirements.
Using unofficial ETA/eVisa websites.
Booking a flight without checking entry rules for your exact passport.
